Mental Health World Conference 2026

Scientific Sessions

Mental Health and Nutrition

At the Mental Health World Conference (MHWC 2026), this session explores the gut-brain axis and the increasing role of nutrition, microbiota, and dietary interventions in managing mental health disorders. Topics include psychonutrition, the relationship between inflammation and depression, and food-based approaches to treating mood and anxiety disorders.

During the discussion, the relationship among the gut microbiome, neurotransmitter synthesis, physiological stress response mechanisms, and emotional regulation will be comprehensively analyzed. Moreover, particular attention will be paid to the latest research concerning the relationship between diet and cognitive processes, as well as its effects on mental disorders.

Firstly, it should be noted that the second crucial topic that will be discussed during the seminar is the influence of junk food consumption, high blood sugar levels, and nutrient deficiency on the development and progression of psychological disorders. The role of personal care practices and behavior changes in improving psychological well-being will be emphasized.
Additionally, considerable attention will be paid to the recommendations on applying nutritional psychiatry in everyday practice. This approach implies cooperation between nutritionists and psychologists, as well as integration of nutritional psychiatry into general practitioners' work.
