Mental Health World Conference 2026

Scientific Sessions

Mental Health in Special Populations

At the Mental Health World Conference (MHWC 2026), this session brings together forensic psychiatrists, disability advocates, veterans’ health specialists, occupational health experts, and humanitarian responders to address the mental health needs of structurally marginalized or underserved populations. Topics will include trauma-informed systems, disability-inclusive services, and tailored interventions for high-risk groups.

Mental health issues unique to people such as refugees and migrants, incarcerated persons, people with disabilities, frontline workers, and those impacted by conflicts and natural disasters will receive more examination in the upcoming session. In this regard, the connection between social determinants of health, chronic stress, and trauma exposure to mental health conditions will be underscored.

Moreover, the issue of context-sensitive interventions will be addressed, including those grounded in the community's cultural traditions and background and involving community members in treatment programs, especially when dealing with disadvantaged groups. Reducing stigmatization and improving outreach to people with unique circumstances can also serve as an effective strategy in this case.

It is essential to pay special attention to multi-sector collaboration among healthcare, legal, and social service institutions when providing mental health services. In conclusion, through research, case study analysis, and practice experience, the session participants will get acquainted with how to develop sustainable solutions to improve mental health care delivery to diverse population groups.
