  • Title: A Non Clinical Digital Companion Model for Functional Recovery in Social Anxiety

Abstract

Social anxiety disorder is one of the most prevalent and functionally impairing mental health conditions worldwide, yet many individuals remain outside formal treatment systems due to stigma, access barriers, cost, and clinician shortages. This presentation introduces a non clinical digital companion model designed to support real world participation rather than symptom elimination. The framework focuses on moment to moment decision support, behavioral re engagement, and identity stabilization in everyday social environments such as workplaces, classrooms, and community settings. Unlike therapeutic or diagnostic tools, the model operates as a functional guidance layer that helps users differentiate physiological states from perceived social threat, reduce avoidance behaviors, and maintain continuity of daily activities during periods of anxiety. The approach integrates interoceptive awareness, context sensitive prompts, and user paced engagement to support gradual exposure without coercion. Preliminary use case observations suggest improvements in conversational participation, reduced task avoidance, and increased tolerance of social discomfort in non clinical populations. This model is positioned as a scalable digital mental health infrastructure for low-resource settings and populations that do not access traditional care. The session will outline the conceptual architecture, real-world application scenarios, and implications for global mental health accessibility, workforce limitations, and preventive behavioral support.
